STUDENTS + PARENTS + COMMUNITY
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Announcements
5th grade end of year events
Spring Fling is June 15 from 4-7. This is a time for the students to get together for a nice dinner while dressed in their best! It is a time for the students to listen to music and "socialize" with their classmates before leaving Jackson.

This year has flown by. It seems like yesterday I was saying to the students "Welcome to 5th Grade". However, Graduation is here! It is June 20 at 9:00 at Healey Auditorium. $10 for cap and gown is due June 9. If your son needs a bow tie and if you need one, you can get it for an extra $6. Please adhere to the letter and deadline so we can get everything done on time. Thank you to all my parents/guardians for a great year and all your support! Together we CAN make a difference, and WE DID! heart
Reading & Writing
READING:
We have started our novel study, Hatchet. After reading a chapter, students write a brief summary and draw a picture of what happened. Students will take a quiz every 3 chapters and a final test at the end. All work is kept in their Hatchet folders and will be given a final grade upon completion.

KidBiz:
Students are allowed to log on to KidBiz ACHIEVE 3000 at home to complete articles of their choice. This will give your child practice reading NON-FICTION articles and completing questions that are similar to PARRC. Students can participate in Ms. Joseph's weekly challenge by completing 5 or more activities with a score of 80% or higher on first try!

Writing
Students are writing letters and giving advice to the incoming 5th graders.
Math
Math
We have started Getting Ready for 6th grade in math. Students need to continue practicing their math facts over the summer.
Homework
Students should be reading every night.
Class DOJO
smileyPlease log in to see our CLASSROOM STORIES! There are photos that show our children in action and special events that are going on during the school day.
Spring has sprung our allergies
Although we may enjoy the warmer weather, remember with it comes severe allergies! Please take note of this and if it affects your child, please send in extra tissues and sanitizer! Also, keep in mind that we are on the 3rd floor and heat rises. The AC doesn't get turned on for awhile and children should dress according to weather. winkThank you in advance!
